Details

This majestic, Renaissance-era artwork was painted on a ceiling of the Palazzo Barberini by Pietro Da Cortona and consequently called the “Allegory of Divine Providence and Barberini Power”. The Barberinis were indeed a powerful family – headed by Maffeo Barberini, who became Pope Urban VIII in the mid-1600s – and the painting showcases the golden bees that formed their coat of arms, as well as cherubs, flying maidens and the symbolic representation of divine providence. (Fun fact: Urban VIII’s papal election was widely rumoured to have been rigged, and there is speculation that he then commissioned this painting to convince the public that he was chosen for the position by God, and not by shadier means.)

Ladies and gentlemen: we've done it. We've created the world's most comfortable pants. Fleece-lined for cosiness, a relaxed fit for lounginess, cuffed legs for cuteness AND handy pockets: you will never want to take these babies off.
