Thick, cool woodlands, sprawling wildflowers and a whole lot of furry forest friends: this stunningly intricate tapestry was commissioned by a wealthy couple in 1892, and created for William Morris’s company by artist John Henry Dearle. Although known more for his printmaking, Morris himself called tapestry “the noblest of weaving arts”, and was clearly impressed by his apprentice’s ability to produce work as fine as this.
With their flowing shape, tapered leg and structured box pleats, these lightweight pants are the epitome of relaxed chic.
