In this totally creepy short story by Edgar Allen Poe, the titular Morella, a highly intelligent but sickly woman, tells her husband on her deathbed that she will die but come back to life. When she dies, she gives birth to a daughter, who grows up to look so much like her mother that her father refuses to name her for ten years. At her baptism, he finally calls her...Morella. And (spoiler alert) she dies immediately, though when her father takes her to the tomb she is supposed to share with her mother, he finds the original Morella's body has disappeared.
This illustration by Harry Clarke depicts the narrator looking over Morella on her deathbed, though if you look closely, you will see images of a woman's face over and over in the scenery - which raises all kinds of questions about how many Morellas there really are. Yep, totally creepy.
