Joseph Stella was best known for bringing the Futurism movement – popular in his native Italy in the early twentieth century – to the American art scene. But while Futurism was all about capturing the grand buildings, bridges and factories of the urban environment, his greatest passion was actually nature. This beautiful painting captures the best of both worlds: the precise symmetry of man-made structures mixed with the chaotic shapes and colours of wild plant life.
This dress takes all the best bits of our other fav dress styles: the casual short sleeves of a Skater dress, mixed with the flattering princess seams of the Evil Cheerleader dress. Those in the know will recognise it for what it truly is: the mythical one-sided inside-out-dress.
