This series of panels is a little unusual for Alphonse Mucha – although they do feature his signature personification of natural objects (in this case, the moon and stars) as female figures, they appear to be floating in space, rather than being framed with ornate designs. It is thought that Mucha wanted to convey the deeper symbolic meaning of the subjects, rather than portraying them as merely decorative.
HWMF is that noise you make when you flip your hair and walk away dramatically. It also stands for High-Waisted Matte Finish....which is pretty self explanatory, yeah?
