In one of the most enduring myths from Ancient Greece, the warrior Theseus offered to be one of the tributes offered in sacrifice to the Minotaur, a half-bull, half-man monster hidden in a labyrinth on the island of Crete. He did this so that he could secretly bring his sword and kill the beast once and for all.
