An Important (and Toastie) Update

We owe you an overdue update on a fabric change we made a couple of years ago, from Toastie to Toastie Core, and wanted to share a clear explanation of what changed and why. We’re sorry it’s taken us this long to properly fill you in.

A couple of years ago we started to make a gradual transition from our original Toastie fabric to a new, more hard- and long-wearing Toastie, Toastie Core. Although the OG Toastie fabric wasn't faulty, the switch aimed to fix the longer term durability concerns raised by customers. This is when we landed Toastie Core, which was put through extensive stretch, comfort, and wear-testing (both people and in a lab) before rolling it out.

Why we didn’t call it out (and why that was wrong):

When we compared the two fabrics side by side, they felt so similar that we didn’t think to highlight the change. In hindsight, we should have communicated it more clearly, and we’re sorry for any surprise or disappointment this may have caused. Since rolling out Toastie Core, most feedback has been positive, but we’ve also heard mixed reactions to the updated fabric, and we get it... everyone has their own preferences when it comes to feel and fit.

Here’s how you might notice the difference today:

  • Toastie (the OG) (85% Polyester, 15% Elastane) - slightly firmer pull and hand feel, but some reported that it wore more quickly over time.
  • Toastie Core (89% Polyester, 11% Elastane) - slightly sturdier model thanks to the extra poly, delivering enhanced durability, excellent stretch recovery over time, and longer-lasting shape and ultra-soft texture.

Since Toastie Core launched, we’ve been selling down our remaining OG Toastie stock alongside Toastie Core styles. If you’ve done a side-by-side comparison recently, you may well have picked up on the subtle difference, and we totally understand if you prefer the firmer pull of the original. If in doubt, make sure you check out the composition on the product page.

Your feedback is front and centre as we explore future fabric enhancements. We'd love to be able to combine the best qualities of both, and we’ll commit to keeping you updated if and when those plans take shape.
