At the time Vincent Van Gogh painted his 'Still Life: Vase with Pink Roses', he wrote to his mother: "But for one's health, as you say, it is very necessary to work in the garden and see the flowers growing." In fact, Van Gogh was about to finish a stay at the Saint-Rémy asylum and was full of optimism about his future, which is reflected in this soft, pretty, springtime print.
