I have to say antique bookshop, although I do love a forest walk too. I just find I’m always drawn to books and the comfort a bookstore gives me, it’s where I spend most of my free time.

What do you want someone to feel the first time they put on one of the pieces from the collection?

Most importantly I would love for them to feel seen, like they’re wearing something that they identify with or that feels very ‘them’. I also hope that the pieces I designed for this collection make someone feel confident and comfortable. 

For me, living with endometriosis has made me crave comfy clothes with elastic waist bands or non restrictive fabric, but I also still wanted to be able to wear pieces that were stylish and eye catching. When designing the pieces for Nature of a Witch, I aimed for styles that can be worn all day while still making a fashion statement. The stretchy mesh fabric in the top, the soft, floaty dresses and the elastic waisted shorts are all non restrictive & super comfortable to wear, so I hope people feel that when they wear any of my pieces from this collection.

That print is actually one of the first pieces of art I created when I opened Ghosts of October! It’s a bit of an ode to women and witches throughout history who found magic in the natural world. All of the elements in the print were inspired by personal witchcraft tools & curiosities I had around my home. 

When I created it, I was thinking about how lucky I am to live in a time where it’s safe for me to have them & I would not be persecuted for ownership of these items. So it’s very much a subtle nod to witch history and the accusations made upon women with these types of things in their homes who were just healers or herbalists.

I wanted to show how these natural tools are now so openly acceptable in the modern world, but to be found with them in times of witch hysteria could be costly. The revised edition for BM also includes some nods to familiars found in historical witchcraft illustrations and some newer elements I’ve worked into my craft since I originally created the piece, like insects I’ve collected .

Yes absolutely! For me, it’s the bug mesh top. This was a piece I had wanted to design for several years and it includes some of my favourite moths and beetles. I’m such a big fan of a unique layering piece and this mesh top is something that I have yearned for in my wardrobe for a very long time. It has been a dream come true to create this piece in collaboration with BlackMilk.

I’d also say The Swarm dress is a bit of a love letter to my community which is made up of lots of alternative, gothic and spooky ghouls! When I was designing that piece I was looking to create something I’d always wanted to buy myself, but had never seen! The idea was to design a dark, floaty dress with a romantic renaissance inspired cut that was unique and a bit gothic. Something that could be worn casually day to day or to something like a Renaissance fair or fantasy ball with a corset and a skirt hike. I love the juxtaposition of dark creepy bugs on a floaty feminine dress and I creating pieces that have the ability to be versatile. I think that’s something a lot of other people would love to wear too! 

If you could only wear one piece from the collection for the next year, what would it be?

I’m pretty sure I will be living in The Swarm top for the foreseeable future so I’d definitely say that one!!
