Claude Monet produced approximately 250 different water lilies paintings over the course of his artistic career, mostly during the last thirty years of his life. His source of inspiration was his own garden, filled it with the flowers he loved so much, he had them imported illegally from Africa. He saw the combination of water and plants to be the perfect embodiment of nature's beauty.
