Mucha’s first Four Seasons print was so popular, his printers asked him to produce several more sets on the same theme. Like the very first one, this 1897 version personifies the seasons as ethereal women in seasonal countryside scenes. Each panel captures the mood of the season, forming a harmonious whole that gives a beautiful sense of time’s passing.
